Tuesday 1 July 2025: Orange weather warning in place

More rain is on its way for the Nelson Tasman region. While the cleanup from the weather event continues the teams are busy preparing for the upcoming forecasted rain. Teams are assessing infrastructure, clearing debris and Emergency Management remains activated.

These rainfall forecasts are sufficiently serious to be concerned.

We strongly recommend people stay away from rivers, as they could rise rapidly depending on the intensity of the rain.

We recommend that people avoid travelling during the heavy rainfall and to keep the roads clear. This will allow first responders and emergency services to respond quickly if needed. Please consider working from home tomorrow if that is an option for you.

Check drainage areas around your home are clear of debris and keep an eye on the forecast as it moves in.

Farmers, growers, and rural communities are encouraged to keep up to date with the latest weather forecasts and take precautions. This includes moving stock to higher ground.
